David was appointed Principal Double Bass with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the age of 25. Since then, he has worked under 4 Principal Conductors and toured the UK, Europe, the USA. Travelling as far as Hong Kong, he has performed in some of the world's finest concert halls including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Musikverein in Vienna and of course, London's Royal Albert Hall.
David's teaching includes work as visiting Professor at Southampton University and the London College of Music. He has given Masterclasses at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London, and at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. He also teaches at Marlborough College, and is the Bass Tutor at the annual Crescendo Summer Institute in Hungary.
David is a regular visitor to Youth Music Wessex, supporting the next generation as they step into the wonderful world that is music, and we are delighted that he will be offering double bass lessons through YMWes in the coming seasons.
