What's on at YMWes?
All Youth Music Wessex's projects and events will be shown here. Check back regularly to make sure you don't miss something!

The Wessex Youth Symphony Orchestra's annual showcase performance "The Gala Concert", takes place at St Peter's Church Bournemouth, on Saturday March 29th, at 7.30pm.
The concert opens with a performance of Sibelius' lesser known Karelia Overture, followed by Mozart's famous Violin Concerto no. 3 - with soloist and WYSO alumnus Lewis Lee. In the 2nd half, the WYSO musicians will flex their symphonic muscles with a performance of Tchaikovsky's Symphony no. 5 in E minor.

The 2024-25 YMWes Season Launch is almost upon us, and this year we will do it in style with a Brass Instrument taster morning for all youngsters wondering about learning a brass instrument, with brass ensemble performances, helpers on hand to guide you and lots of instruments to try out.
And if you already play something, our grand Open Orchestra event is for YOU! Everyone is welcome to come along and play!
YMWes members, youngsters who are thinking about trying YMWes and friends, relatives - all ages, all generations (!) and we'll ensure there are parts available for all playing levels and all orchestral/wind band instruments as well.
Come along to YMWes, have a look around, meet the YMWes team, the members, and why not enjoy some tea or coffee and cake from the Centre's legendary Tuck Shop (cash payments only!).
If you play an instrument and would love to join an orchestral team even for just one morning, sign up to our Open Orchestra event today. Individuals and family bookings welcome!
