The recorder family offers an accessible gateway to the world of classical music-making. It is the perfect choice for a young would-be musician wanting to begin their musical journey. The instruments are affordable, light to hold and don't require as much "puff" as some of the other woodwind instruments, so can be played by the youngest students.
And whilst learning to play the instrument, our young musicians also learn to read music, all the while developing greater dexterity, listening skills, breath control, communication, concentration, and cooperation.
It's an ideal way to introduce youngsters to the fun and discipline of playing in groups and whilst for some it may become a preliminary step to taking up orchestral instruments in the future, for others they may find that this instrument, first documented way back in the 1500s, becomes their main instrument.
