Peter Turnbull GRNCM - YMWes Wind Bands Conductor
Peter studied trumpet with Maurice Murphy, Philip Jones and Alan Stringer at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Over the years he has enjoyed performing with the CWS Manchester Brass Band and the Eric Delaney Band (Jazz/Swing), and as well as working with the CBSO and Halle Orchestra, he has held principal trumpet positions at both Opera North and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for a combined total of 25 years.
In 2007 he made a CD recording of the Richard Rodney Bennett Concerto with the Royal Marines Band. Still a member of the BSO, he now spends more time teaching - both privately and at Chichester University, as well as working on various music education projects.
He particularly enjoys working with his young wind band musicians and is keen to ensure that not only are they introduced to as wide a range of musical styles as possible, but they continue to develop and discover new musical skills and have a lot of fun along the way.
