
Tammy Sullivan – Oboe
Tammy was raised in Dorset and was a member of the Wessex Youth Orchestra doing her school years.
After graduating from Cardiff University with a First Class Honours and the Dr E.H Griffiths Award for Orchestral Performance, Tammy was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Studying under the tuition of Steven Hudson, Lucie Sprague and Patrick Flanaghan, Tammy completed her Masters in Oboe Performance in which she achieved a Distinction and went on to win the Howarth of London Double Reed Prize.
After studying for five years in Cardiff, Tammy has now returned to Dorset where she works as a freelance musician and educator. She is an Instrumental Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation, a music charity that strives to unite, inspire and educate young musicians through their work. During the summer of 2022, she gained her ABRSM Diploma in Instrumental Teaching.
Tammy teaches in schools across Purbeck, Poole and Bournemouth and continues to perform in various orchestras and groups, most recently Ensemble 360 with Music in the Round. She is also a participant in the London Symphony Orchestra Pathways scheme for 2023/2024.
Aside from music, Tammy enjoys open water swimming and arts and crafts! We're delighted to be able to welcome Tammy back to Wessex, and this time as the latest addition to our growing team of visiting tutors.
